Occupational First Aid Course- FETAC Level 5
Under the Safety Health and welfare at work (General Application Regulations) 2007, there is a requirement on employers to have a sufficient number (based on a risk assessment) of Occupational First Aiders in the workplace. This three day course is a FETAC level 5 course. All our trainers are registered Occupational First Aid Instructors with the health & Safety Authority agent OFAAA.
The aim of this course is to enable participants to be able to deliver emergency first aid before the arrival of the medical services. This course is designed to give the First Aider the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries and illness and maintain care and comfort of the casualty. Participants will also learn to perform resuscitation and use the external defibrillator and administer Asprin.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who wants to qualify as an Occupational First Aider
Prerequisites:
Participants should be fit enough to participate in the practical sessions and capable of kneeling on the floor to provide resuscitation. As the course is delivered in English, participants should have a good command of the English language. If the participant would like to bring an interpreter this can be accommodated, although they should notify us in writing before hand.
Course Content:
- Asessment, Accident Scene Management
- Circulation, wounds, Bleeding & Foreign Bodies
- Respiration, Asphyxia
- CPR and Heart Attack and use of External Defibrilator
- Fractures, sprains & Dislocations
- Burns, Scalds, chemicals, Poisons & Electric Shock
- Medical Emergencies, Crush and Spinal Injuries
Assessment
Participants will be required to a written paper, demonstrate CPR and use of defibrillator and a practical skill based on the course content.
Accreditation:
FETAC Level 5
Registration with Health & Safety Authority Appointed body OFAAA
Certificate valid for 2 years.
