Defibrillator training
A persons chance of survival from a heart attack dramatically improves with early defibrillation - the use of the Automated External Defibrilator (AED) and early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Defibrilation should ideally be administered within the first few minutes following a cardiac arrest.
Course Content:
- Adult and Paediatric CPR, including two 'rescuer' scenarios
- Use of bag valve mask and barrier devices
- Management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO)
- Use of AEDs
Course Duration
This course takes 4:5 hours to complete
Evaluation
Participants are evaluated by skills testing and a written evaluation, comprising of multiple choice questions
Certification
Irish Heart Foundation course completion cards are given upon successful completion of the course.
Note:
Participants should revalidate their skills every 90 days. The revalidation process takes 15 minutes.
