Childcare/Paediatric First Aid Course FETAC Level 5
This childcare/paediatric first aid course is specifically designed for those who work with, or care for, children. The course deals with accidents that happen to children of all ages, from newborns to children from 1 - 8 years, and from age 8 - adulthood.
The aim of this course is to give the first-aider the skills necessary to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses. It also aims to give the first aider the skills to care for and comfort the casualty and to administer effective life support if required, before the arrival of the medical services. Participants will also learn to perform resuscitation and use the external defibrillator.

Anyone wishing to qualify as a first-aider working in a childcare/school setting.

Assessment:
Participants will be required to sit a written paper, demonstrate CPR and the use of a defibrillator, and demonstrate a practical skill based on the course content.

FETAC Level 5
Registration with Health & Safety Authority Appointed body OFAAA
Certificate valid for 2 years
